Don't let all your questions stop you from coming. Here are answers to some of the top questions we hear asked:
Who should attend the auction?
Everyone! There will be Cor Deo families and friends, but all are welcome. We want to involve the community as much as possible at our auction. Invite your friends from churches, work, and beyond. The more, the merrier!
What Should I wear?
There is a variety of attire. Many people dress up in costumes to match the theme of the auction. Perhaps you want to go as a PamAm Flight Attendant, or as a pilot. Don't feel like dressing up? Dress like you're going out to a nice dinner. Jeans with a nice top are perfect, too. A few may choose to be formal because it's a beautiful location with a fancy theme--who doesn't love a chance to dress up?
I can't buy anything, should I even go?
YES! Even if you cannot bid, you will have an entertaining evening. The silent auction will have baskets with a range of values. That said, the evening is about enjoying our community and the camaraderie of our school. Enjoy a lovely evening out with a delicious meal, games, and a fun venue. The auction is also entertaining to watch!
Who will I sit next to during the auction?
The auction committee will assign seating and tables. However, in the comment box, you can indicate people you want to sit by when buying your tickets. You can also email us at cordeoauction@gmail.com. We cannot guarantee seating, but we will do our best to accommodate your requests.
Do we pay for parking, and will it be hard to get a spot?
Parking is free, and the museum has plenty of parking.
Will there be a hosted bar?
Your auction ticket includes a one-drink beer, wine, cocktail, or soda beverage ticket. After that, there is a cash bar. We will have some fun craft cocktails this year provided by Happy Camper. They will have mocktails, tea/coffee, and many other beverages, too.
My significant other cannot come, should I go?
YES! Many people come solo or with a friend. You will have time to mingle with all the families of Cor Deo! We try to match friends to tables as best we can.
Are you having trouble finding babysitting?
The auction committee is trying to compile a list of babysitters. Many of our families have older children who can babysit. Email cordeoauction@gmail.com, and we will do our best to connect you with a potential babysitter.
Why is the ticket price so high?
The ticket price only covers the cost of the food, the drink ticket, and the event space. In fact, it does not cover the entire cost of the auction. We are trying to keep the price manageable for families and welcome everyone. If you would like to attend the event but the price prevents you from doing so, please get in touch with the auction committee at cordeoauction@gmail.com. We are happy to see what we can do to assist.
Will it help if I purchase a ticket but do not attend?
Purchasing tickets is necessary for the evening but does not contribute to the fundraising goal. The cost of the tickets covers the cost of the event itself. If you cannot attend but would still like to contribute, please see the "I would like to make a donation" section of the Tickets and Tables page of the website.
What are the funds from the auction put towards?
The total cost of educating a Cor Deo student supersedes tuition. This approach is consistent within the private school world to keep tuition costs low and rely upon fundraising for the remainder. The auction funds go towards school operations such as teacher and staff salaries, staff development, tuition assistance, school supplies, etc. As we look to relocate to a new facility in 2026, many of the funds will go towards all the costs involved in moving our school to its new home.
Why do we have the auction?
The auction is an imperative and integral piece of a complete financial picture for The Cor Deo School. It is also a great opportunity to bring the Cor Deo family together to celebrate our school and community.
Why are students not involved or attending the auction? Why can't the students present or participate somehow?
Given the nature of this event, which includes an auction and serves alcohol, we decided it should be a 21+ event. There are various events throughout the school year to celebrate the students, see them perform, and acknowledge their accomplishments.
I'm vegetarian and/or gluten-free, will there be food for me?
Yes! Dinner will be buffet style. We tried to pick a variety of foods to fit differing diets. There will be vegetarian and gluten free options. However, there is a drop-down during the ticket purchasing process where you can indicate you would like a vegetarian entree. You can also email us at cordeoauction@gmail.com with any questions.
At the auction, how do I retrieve my items if I am a winning bidder? Silent and live items that are won may be picked up at the end of the auction event during checkout. Otherwise, you can contact the auction team to arrange pick-up.
If buying more than one ticket, do I need to add names?
We will need to have your guest's information - it is best if you can provide the information at the time you purchase tickets. However, if it's not possible, please contact April or Heather and we'll help you with placeholders.
Not and FAQ, but we welcome Table and/or Ticket sponsorships.
We are aiming to create a partnership table to give complimentary tickets to a few folks from Praise Covanent and some local preschools. We also hope to cover the tickets of a few that are unable to purchase an auction ticket. If you feel called to help in this way, please email cordeoauction@gmail.com or see Heather Brown / April Keener.
